Trials of Jesus (Jerusalem)
Betrayal and Arrest (Gethsemane)
MAT 26:47 ¶ And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came
up, accompanied by a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and
elders of the people.
MAT 26:48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomever I shall
kiss, He is the one; seize Him."
MAT 26:55 At that time Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out with
swords and clubs to arrest Me as against a robber? Every day I used to sit in the temple
teaching and you did not seize Me.
MAR 14:43 ¶ And immediately while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve,
came up, accompanied by a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the
scribes and the elders.
MAR 14:44 Now he who was betraying Him had given them a signal, saying, "Whomever
I shall kiss, He is the one; seize Him, and lead Him away under guard."
MAR 14:46 And they laid hands on Him, and seized Him.
MAR 14:48 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Have you come out with swords and
clubs to arrest Me, as against a robber?
LUK 22:47 ¶ While He was still speaking, behold, a multitude came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was preceding them; and he
approached Jesus to kiss Him.
LUK 22:52 And Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who
had come against Him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as against a robber?
|JOH 18:2 Now Judas also, who was betraying Him,
knew the place; for Jesus had often met there with His disciples.
JOH 18:3 Judas then, having received the Roman cohort, and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
JOH 18:4 Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, went forth, and said to them, "Whom do you seek?"
JOH 18:5 They answered Him, "Jesus the Nazarene." He said to them, "I am He." And Judas also who was betraying Him, was standing with them.
JOH 18:6 When therefore He said to them, "I am He," they drew back, and fell to the ground.
JOH 18:7 Again therefore He asked them, "Whom do you seek?" And they said, "Jesus the Nazarene."
JOH 18:8 Jesus answered, "I told you that I am He; if therefore you seek Me, let these go their way,"
JOH 18:9 that the word might be fulfilled which He spoke, "Of those whom Thou hast given Me I lost not one."
JOH 18:10 Simon Peter therefore having a sword, drew it, and struck the high priest's
slave, and cut off his right ear; and the slave's name was Malchus.
JOH 18:12 ¶ So the Roman cohort and the commander, and the officers of the Jews,
arrested Jesus and bound Him,

Before Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin (house of Caiaphas)
|MAT 26:57 ¶ And those who had seized Jesus led
Him away to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered
MAT 26:58 But Peter also was following Him at a distance as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and entered in, and sat down with the officers to see the outcome.
MAT 26:59 Now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, in order that they might put Him to death;
MAT 26:60 and they did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward.
later on two came forward,
MAT 26:62 And the high priest stood up and said to Him, "Do You make no answer?
What is it that these men are testifying against You?"
|MAR 14:53 ¶ And they led Jesus away to the high
priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes gathered together.
MAR 14:54 And Peter had followed Him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the
high priest; and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself at the fire.
MAR 14:63 And tearing his clothes, the high priest said, "What further need do we
have of witnesses?
MAR 14:64 "You have heard the blasphemy; how does it seem to you?" And they
all condemned Him to be deserving of death.
|LUK 22:54 ¶ And having arrested Him, they led
Him away, and brought Him to the house of the high priest;
LUK 22:63 ¶ And the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him, and
"Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?"
|JOH 18:24 Annas therefore sent Him bound to
Caiaphas the high priest.
Peter's Denials (courtyard of Caiaphas)
MAT 26:69 ¶ Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a certain servant-girl came to him and said,
"You too were with Jesus the Galilean."
And immediately a cock crowed.
"Before a cock crows, you will deny Me three times."
And he went out and wept bitterly.
MAR 14:66 ¶ And as Peter was below in the
courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came,
And after a little while the bystanders were again saying to Peter, "Surely you
are one of them, for you are a Galilean too."
MAR 14:71 But he began to curse and swear, "I do not know this man you are talking
And he began to weep.
|LUK 22:55 And after they had kindled a fire in
the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter was sitting among them.
LUK 22:56 And a certain servant-girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight, and looking intently at him, said, "This man was with Him too."
LUK 22:57 But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him."
LUK 22:58 And a little later, another saw him and said, "You are one of them
too!" But Peter said, "Man, I am not!"
LUK 22:59 And after about an hour had passed, another man began to insist, saying,
"Certainly this man also was with Him, for he is a Galilean too."
JOH 18:26 One of the slaves of the high priest, being a relative of the one whose ear
Peter cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with Him?"
Before the Sanhedrin (court of the Sanhedrin)
|MAT 27:1 Now when morning had come, all the chief
priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death;
MAT 27:2 and they bound Him, and led Him away, and delivered Him up to Pilate the governor.
|MAR 15:1 And early in the morning the chief
priests with the elders and scribes, and the whole Council, immediately held a
and binding Jesus, they led Him away, and delivered Him up to Pilate.
|LUK 22:66 ¶ And when it was day, the Council of
elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to
their council chamber, saying,
LUK 22:67 "If You are the Christ, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe;
LUK 22:68 and if I ask a question, you will not answer.
LUK 22:69 "But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God."
LUK 22:70 And they all said, "Are You the Son of God, then?" And He said to them, "Yes, I am."
LUK 22:71 And they said, "What further need do we have of testimony? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."
LUK 23:1 Then the whole body of them arose and brought Him before Pilate.
Death of Judas (Temple, Potter's Field)
|MAT 27:3 ¶ Then when Judas, who had betrayed
Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of
silver to the chief priests and elders,
MAT 27:4 saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to that yourself!"
MAT 27:5 And he threw the pieces of silver into the sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.
MAT 27:6 And the chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood."
MAT 27:7 And they counseled together and with the money bought the Potter's Field as a burial place for strangers.
MAT 27:8 For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
MAT 27:9 Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one whose price had been set by the sons of Israel;
MAT 27:10 and they gave them for the Potter's Field, as the Lord directed me. "
ACT 1:18 (Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness; and falling
headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.
First Appearance Before Pilate (Praetorium)
MAT 27:13 Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify
MAR 15:2 And Pilate questioned Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And
answering He said to him, "It is as you say."
MAR 15:4 And Pilate was questioning Him again, saying, "Do You make no answer? See
how many charges they bring against You!"
LUK 23:4 And Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes, "I find no guilt
in this man."
|JOH 18:28 ¶ They led Jesus therefore from
Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter into the
Praetorium in order that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.
JOH 18:29 Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, "What accusation do you bring against this Man?"
Before Herod Antipas - Luke 23:6-12
Second Appearance Before Pilate (Praetorium)
|MAT 27:15 Now at the feast the governor was
accustomed to release for the multitude any one prisoner whom they wanted.
MAT 27:16 And they were holding at that time a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas.
MAT 27:17 When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom
do you want me to release for you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"
MAT 27:22 Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called
Christ?" They all said, "Let Him be crucified!"
MAT 27:24 And when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot
was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the multitude, saying,
"I am innocent of this Man's blood; see to that yourselves."
MAT 27:26 Then he released Barabbas for them;
but after having Jesus scourged, he delivered Him to be crucified.
|MAR 15:6 ¶ Now at the feast he used to release
for them any one prisoner whom they requested.
MAR 15:7 And the man named Barabbas had been imprisoned with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the insurrection.
MAR 15:8 And the multitude went up and began asking him to do as he had been accustomed to do for them.
MAR 15:9 And Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release for you the
King of the Jews?"
MAR 15:11 But the chief priests stirred up the multitude to ask him to release Barabbas
for them instead.
MAR 15:12 And answering again, Pilate was saying to them, "Then what shall I do
with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?"
MAR 15:15 And wishing to satisfy the multitude, Pilate released Barabbas for them,
and after having Jesus scourged, he delivered Him to be crucified.
LUK 23:13 ¶ And Pilate summoned the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
LUK 23:18 But they cried out all together, saying, "Away with this man, and
release for us Barabbas!"
LUK 23:20 And Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again,
LUK 23:23 But they were insistent, with loud voices asking that He be crucified. And
their voices began to prevail.
LUK 23:24 And Pilate pronounced sentence that their demand should be granted.
JOH 18:39 "But you have a custom, that I should release someone for you at the
Passover; do you wish then that I release for you the King of the Jews?"
JOH 18:40 Therefore they cried out again, saying, "Not this Man, but
Barabbas." Now Barabbas was a robber.
JOH 19:6 When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, "Crucify, crucify!"
JOH 19:16 So he then delivered Him to them to be crucified.
